Welcome to the story of Skibidi Toilet, a viral internet sensation that took the world by storm in 2023.
The creator of Skibidi Toilet is Alexey Gerasimov, a Georgian animator known by his alias "Blugray" and his YouTube channel "DaFuq!?Boom!"
The first episode of Skibidi Toilet was released on February 7, 2023, on YouTube.
But how did this bizarre and captivating series come to be?
Gerasimov has been learning animation on his own since 2014, using Source Filmmaker, a free 3D computer graphics software published by Valve.
The idea for Skibidi Toilet was inspired by Gerasimov's recurring nightmares about toilets.
He also drew inspiration from a TikTok remix of the song "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King, popularized by TikTok user Paryss Bryanne.
The first episode of Skibidi Toilet was a mere 11 seconds long, featuring a human-headed toilet singing a mashup of "Give It to Me" by Timbaland and "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King.
This mashup was created by TikTok user @doombreaker03, and it quickly went viral across various social media platforms.
The series revolves around a war between human-headed toilets, known as Skibidi Toilets, and humanoid characters with electronic devices for heads, called Cameramen.
The story expands across multiple episodes, introducing characters like G-Man, Speaker Titan, and TV men.
The series uses assets from video games like *Half-Life 2* and *Counter-Strike: Source*.
Skibidi Toilet has become a global phenomenon, with over 12 billion views on YouTube and over 20 billion views on TikTok.
The series has inspired unofficial merchandise and a playable mobile game titled *Skibidi War – Toilet Attack*.
"Skibidi Toilet has even sparked something of a moral panic, with many parents under the impression that whatever it is, it can't be good for their children — it just doesn’t feel right." Forbes, 2024.
The series has also sparked controversy and investigation.
In January 2024, Russian authorities began investigating the series for its alleged harm to children.
The videos were presented to the legislative assembly of Saint Petersburg as part of an annual children's safety report.
Skibidi Toilet has become a symbol of internet culture for Generation Alpha, a testament to the power of creativity and the unpredictable nature of online trends.
